Overview

The large suburban Town of Greece is more than forty square miles, of which eight are directly located on the shores of Lake Ontario. That region provides some of Monroe County's favorite areas for wildlife exploration, including the Braddock Bay State Fish & Wildlife Management region with its popular Raptors Program. A Canal Park offers unique access to the Erie Canal; and Greece Community Center features a large gym and a very active senior program along with fitness areas and walking tracks. Communities within the town borders range from areas where you'll find modest, well-kept homes with strong neighborhood profiles to waterfront properties boasting some of the finest views in Monroe County.

Good to Know
Greece has its own Police Department; and the fire district is divided into five regions - Ridge Road, North Greece, Lake Shore, Barnard, and Hilton Parma which covers a small part of town; Greece Volunteer Ambulance and Monroe Ambulance serve the community. Local Museums & Landmarks
The Greece Historical Society maintains Greece Museum at 595 Long Pond Road. There are exhibits, a gift shop, and lovely gardens that bloom in summer. The 1870's house also offers information on how ice was harvested from a lakeside pond, a history of the Native American encampment on Long Pond, and more.

Who Lives Here

Greece has several apartment complexes that service families and singles; as well as private homes of all sizes. Those with children enjoy a highly rated school system. Despite its sprawling nature, the town of Greece maintains a strong sense of community, and residents are fiercely proud of living here.


Essentials

The major shopping centers in Greece are located along West Ridge Rd. (Rt. 104). Any and all services can be found in the area, from car rentals to furniture stores, from fast food to fine dining, and from auto dealerships to country clubs. Expecting out of town guests? Several hotels are located in Greece.



Recreation & Entertainment

The West Ridge Road area offers all manner of restaurants, both locally owned and national chains; as well as locations which provide live entertainment. Greece Community Broadcasting, at 90.1, is not only a source of local pride but also offers frequent live jazz concerts. A local Wegmans is located on Latta Road.



Transportation & Traffic

With easy access to I-390, Greece is dissected by Rt. 104 (Ridge Rd. West), a major thoroughfare in Monroe County. Long Pond Road is the other major crossroad. The Lake Ontario State Parkway runs along the waterfront region, providing efficient and scenic travel. Maiden Lane and Elmgrove, Manitou, Long Pond, Stone, and Latta Roads serve the area; with Ridgeway Avenue cutting across town. Traffic is often heavy on Ridgeway, Elmgrove, and Route 104.

You will find most any style of living in Greece, from neighborhoods with an urban feel to regions that are far removed from the bustle of crowds.  The area holds the promise of providing residents with just what they need.
